No, not the lounge (where I somehow ended up as a minor after a hockey game with Judy, Monica and Dick)...
But man... You know what sucks? Thinking. Thinking too much. You ever have those times when you really want something, so you start to think about it? And then you start to analyze it and realize that it's not meant to be. But because you started analyzing it, you start to want it more because you're thinking about it. And then you're thinking about it and you start to analyze it and realize that it's not meant to be. Sigh... I've had those days a lot lately. And it's driving me crazy. Wanting something and knowing that it's not meant to be... and yet not able to get over it with simple reasoning because the time and thought used on analyzing and reasoning makes you think about it and want it even more. But knowing that it's not going to work, you start to reason with yourself that it won't work, but now you're thinking about it more and sigh, it never ends...
Any suggestions on what to do? How do you shut your mind up? Or can you? Is it just me that has a mind that goes a thousand thoughts per minute? Or is that everyone? And if that's everyone... how do you shut your mind up?

Often times, you can't shut those thoughts up. What you can do is test those thoughts against God's promises. They always ring true so if what you're thinking doesn't match up, the thoughts should hold no power over you.
You don't shut your mind off. You focus on what really matters. You need to ask God to reveal Himself to you so that you can draw closer to Him.
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.(Mat 6:33,34)
This is the first step. Too many times people pray about the thing they want to forget. Guess what? You end up thinking about it. It's a trap. You're also using it as an excuse to think about it. Don't pray that God will help you forget whatever you are trying to forget, but that God will fill your mind and heart with so much of Him that it forces the other stuff out.
If you really put your full focus on God, all those things that don't matter will seem less and less important. When you focus more on God you become more in tune with reality<----that was from the velvet elvis.
Just remember God is your main focus and He should have all your attention and your mind:)
If you can't stop your mind from thinking about those stuff, just think about God and His great promises. Think about Jesus and His love for you. Think about other that God has called you to help. Think about all the lost souls out there that needs God. <--the great commission
Remember you were put on this earth to worhsip Him...not be consumed by the things of this world.
